I'm a police officer in Alaska. I want to purchase an AR-15 for duty and personal training. If you can tell me what the best optics for C.Q.B. Also if you have any other suggestions or inquiries on accessories for the AR-15, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You C.Rider

I'm no expert on rifles, but I hear good things about Rock River AR-15's. I recently was able to convince the firearms training LT and chief to authorize Rock River and Bushmaster to our approved rifle list.
It goes without saying that I purchased a Colt literally days before this policy change went into effect. I would have prefered a Rock River or a Bushmaster, but nooooooo! We were only authorized Colts.
Being a police can be frustrating, but at least we get paid the big bucks and get to date supermodels. Be safe.

Pat Rogers has seen extensive rifles in use on the range and it seems to be his conviction that COLT rifles tend to hold up better than most other "2nd tier" rifles (e.g., Bushmaster, etc). I dunno, but if Pat is saying that he tends to give Colt a big thumbs up, I think I'd listen to the man. Not saying Bushmaster, or others, don't make a good rifle, but Colt's seem to be more reliable. YMMV.
Fight for your rights, cuz if YOU don't, no one will.
I saw Rock River Arms & Bushmaster. Colt uses an oversized trigger & hammer pin (so when it breaks you HAVE to order from them). I know they say it is so you can't convert their guns to full auto. But anyways, I have a RRA, SGW, Bushmaster, and a couple colts. My favorite is the RRA hands down.
