Our agency has been slowly shuffling toward an Urban Patrol Rifle program. I recently stopped by our local bangstick dealer to arrange purchase of my mandated Colt AR-15. (Despite my position as a weapons instructor, the reasoning behind the Colt mandate seems unclear, but please do not get me started.)

Any advice on a light mount for my new weapon? While Surefire seems the obvious choice, they offer a variety of systems. I'm also opened minded about other manufacturers. I would also glady listen to any advice on slings or ammunition carriers.

I thought about posting here because of mention on Tactical Forums that Scott believes in the brightest light possible. Having worked a lot of nights and been to some low light schools, I'll have to agree. That said, any opinions on the most appropriate duty and/or belt light?

By the way, I understand if ITTS is reluctant to recommend specific manufacturers or products. Thanks and be safe.

Thanks for your inquiry.

I recommend Surefire's integrated rifle lighting system. They are a class outfit and back their products 100%. It is a functional streamlined and rugged system. We use them in Metro. Obtain the brightest light possible.

Regarding the sling, I have a 3 point which is taped down to act as a 2 point sling. I use the 3 point sling only when absolutely necessary, however the 2 point sling stabilizes the weapons system and that is its primary function when utilized properly.
