I went shooting with a LEO friend of mine. I was using my usual modified weaver/Scotty Reid stance. He basically laughed and said that I need to go take a class with Massab Ayoob, to learn to use 'stress' fire techniques.
What was this guy talking about? Kind of a Isocolese (sp?) leaning forward? Why would this be deployed over any others? I personally like to shoot from many different positions, just focus on the basic fundementals of shooting (sight alignment, grip, breath control, trigger squeeze, and follow through). I think he was just being all fussy 'cause I spanked him so hard Anyone can find problems, Leaders find solutions... |

Although I prefer to use the weaver, the truth of the matter is that in many shooting evolutions, a "classic" stance of any sort may well be unobtainable. I do not tend to get wrapped around the axle on stances as much as I do on the down range results of your intentions. Literally dozens and dozens of officers who have trained extensively with us and been involved in field shootings have used the techniques which we teach and sometimes have modified them to fit the situation. All of them performed very well.

Also, for those of us with lesser upper body strength (ok, I admit it, I'm a wimp!), the Weaver stance, with left elbow down, seems to help.
